I'v got a pot of mixed beans that I bought in a package at the 99 cent store. I let them sit in water overnight. Drained water and now I'm cooking them on low. So far for spice I've thrown in a chipolte vegetable burger and some sea salt plus a bit of chicken boulon (sp) salt. Any suggestions? maybe onions or shallots?

  7. Onions and garlic--you can't go wrong!
btw, I am definitely of the no soak variety--
but keep me posted. Next time you may want to wait till the beans are tender to add the salt,
rumor has it salt toughens the skin of beans.

It occurs to me I may have taken this question far too seriously. But that's how I feel about beans

  9. Would you one day please do a piece on how to make a good cup of coffee? Every morning, mine is absolutely filthy, and it doesn't seem to matter what brand I buy. It can't be that hard. (I use a french press.)

  10. Argh, AH, outed again!
I do not know how to do French Press. I do drip, or Italian, but French press? Tell me why you continue to use a press, if the coffee is filthy?
