Switching Plates

Since the goddess Margaret is tackling food, I thought I'd steal a page from Financially InKleined and tackle
business.

This from the Rotary Club, circa 1932

This 24-word test for employees to follow in their business and professional lives asks the following four questions:
"Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
Kids, imagine what capitalism would really look like, if more businesses were run this way.  Read it again.
Frankly, I think it's revolutionary.

  1. Hey, that's pretty cool. Where did you find it?

  2. TRUTH?? FAIRNESS? GOODWILL toward MEN (and women?), FRIENDSHIPS, plus BENEFICIAL to ALL??

We've certainly made evolutionary advances toward these virtues!

  3. M: Right here http://www.brentwoodrotary.org/4way.php I was ready to scoff, but became a convert.

CP Clearly so many businesses don't follow this model--

  4. I was in a Pasadena store a few weeks ago and heard the proprietor speaking to a "regular" about a group she was supporting financially. It was a hate group, anti a certain religion. I walked out of there thinking, "There's one Pasadena business I won't be supporting."

That woman would do well to learn these practices, but in her ignorance I'll bet she thinks she follows them.

  5. Yes, Restless One, if only biz could follow these virtues the same way we individuals do. Oh wait...they already do.
